How to Merge PDF Files Into One Document
Updated October 9, 2026
Sending five separate PDFs is annoying for the person who receives them. Contracts, invoices, scanned pages and reports are much easier to read, print and archive when they are in one file. This guide shows how to merge PDF files for free, without installing any software.
Merge PDF files in 4 steps
- Open the Merge PDF tool.
- Click Choose files and select two or more PDFs, or drag them onto the page. You will see a picture of the first page of each file.
- Put the files in the right order with the ◀ ▶ buttons under each card. Remove a wrong file with the ✕ button.
- Press Merge PDF. When it finishes, check the preview and download your new file.
Tips for a clean result
- Name your files in order before you start, for example 01-cover, 02-report, 03-appendix. It saves time when you choose them.
- Check the preview of the result before you send it. Make sure no page is missing or upside down. If a page is rotated the wrong way, fix it with the Rotate PDF tool.
- Merge first, number later. If you want page numbers across the whole document, merge the files and then use the Add Page Numbers tool.
- Remove pages you do not need with the Delete PDF Pages tool, either before or after merging.
Is it safe to merge confidential documents?
PDFDocSol runs inside your web browser. Your files are not uploaded to a server, so contracts, invoices and personal papers stay on your own computer or phone. Close the page when you are finished.
Frequently asked questions
How many files can I merge? There is no fixed limit. The practical limit is the memory of your device. If a very large merge is slow, merge in two steps.
Will the quality change? No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and selectable.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs? Not directly. Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool, if you own the file.
