How to Rotate PDF Pages Permanently
Updated October 9, 2026
A page scanned sideways, a phone photo turned into a PDF the wrong way, a report with one upside-down chart. Rotating the view in your PDF reader is only temporary, and the next person who opens the file sees the problem again. Here is how to rotate pages so the file is fixed for good.
Rotate a PDF in 4 steps
- Open the Rotate PDF tool and choose your file.
- Choose the angle: 90° clockwise, 180°, or 90° counter-clockwise.
- In the Pages box, leave it empty to rotate every page, or tell the tool which pages to change (see below).
- Press Rotate PDF, check the preview and download the file.
How to choose pages
- Empty: all pages
- odd or even: every other page, useful for double-sided scans
- first or last: one page
- 3 or 2,5,8: specific pages
- 4-9: a range of pages. You can combine them, for example 1,4-6.
Which angle should I pick?
Look at the page. If the top of the text points to the right, rotate it 90° counter-clockwise. If it points to the left, rotate it 90° clockwise. If the page is upside down, use 180°. If you are not sure, try one and check the preview. You can run it again on the result.
Prefer to see the pages?
When many pages need different rotations, use the Organize PDF tool. It shows every page as a small picture. Click the rotate button on only the pages that are wrong, and you can also move or delete pages in the same step.
Tips
- Rotation is saved inside the new file, so it will look right in every reader and on every phone.
- Rotate before you add page numbers or a watermark, so they appear the right way up.
- Keep your original file in case you rotate the wrong pages.
Frequently asked questions
Does rotating reduce quality? No. The pages are turned, not re-saved as pictures, so the text stays sharp.
Can I rotate only one page? Yes. Type its number in the Pages box.
Are my files uploaded? No. The tool works inside your browser.
